Support Test Engineer

The Role
We’re looking for a Support Test Engineer to join our growing team and play a critical role in ensuring the robustness, reliability, and evolution of the MAPP platform. You’ll be instrumental in helping us scale our development processes and quality assurance practices.
What you’ll do
- Test new functionality: work closely with developers to rigorously test new features and enhancements to MAPP before releases
- Beta testing: identify and prevent knock-on impacts across the platform by designing and executing comprehensive end-to-end tests
- Write Configuration & Plugin Tests: Create robust test suites for client-specific configurations and custom plugins
- Support Instance Upgrades: Help streamline the process of upgrading client instances to new releases of the XYZ framework, with the goal of making this process smoother and more reliable
- Understand and optimise configuration: Gain deep familiarity with MAPP configurations to spot patterns, reduce duplication, and suggest scalable improvements across client setups
- Develop test frameworks: build reusable testing tools and frameworks that allow configuration developers to write and run tests tailored to client-specific MAPP instances
- Collaborate on CI: partner with the Lead Engineer and Tech Lead to improve automated testing pipelines and support our journey toward continuous integration - with better upgrade handling a foundational step
- Optional development work: depending on interest and skill, contribute to developing new functionality and supporting tools within the MAPP ecosystem
What we’re looking for
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software
- Experience with manual and automated testing in a web development environment
- Familiarity with JavaScript and modern web development frameworks
- Knowledge of version control systems and test runners (e.g. Jest)
- Ability to understand complex user workflows and translate them into effective test plans
- Experience with geospatial tools, map libraries (Mapbox, Leaflet), or data visualisation tools (bonus)
